Cousin of Frisbee

Been busy, but its time to get our first two items up here.
We will start with Frisbee-like toys - two of them.
First, the Flying Squirrel (link).
We got this toy last summer (2008) and it just now bit the dust.
Here is the photo (riley got her foot in too!).
Yes, its mostly ripped in half, but my dogs don't understand sharing - they both want to bring it back, and usually that leads to tug-o-war somewhere in the middle of the backyard.
This thing put up with a lot of tugging before it finally gave in. Total play time - on and off over 4 months. Out of 5, we would give this one a 5. Its a ton of fun, it flies well, its pretty durable (as durable as anything that flies and is soft at the same time), and the price is manageable.
Our second frisbee-like item of the night, the Hyper Disc (link). I will try to be kind, but I dont have much good to say. We got this to try as the Flying Squirrel has seen better days (it still flies a bit, but its sort of lop-sided). My first clue this was a bad toy - just Riley was playing with it, and the first time she brought it back, she had tooth marks all the way through it. Here it is after about 20 minutes of play time - and yes, some tugging, but they are dogs, that is what they do.
Overall, I give it a 1. It only gets that because its a scale of 1-5. We will be getting another Flying Squirrel soon.

Meet the Testers

This is Zoe. She is a weimaraner. Zoe is our April Fool's baby... she was born on April 1, 2004. Zoe loves balls. All kinds of them. Tennis, racquet, squeaky, fuzzy... the list goes on and on. She is a runner, a chaser, and a chewer. If there is a ball on the market, she can destroy it.

This is Riley... she too is a Weimaraner. She was born on October 16, 2007. Riley is a chewer and a tugger - she loves to pull things apart and destroy them. She is also very tall, as you can see here. She is proud of herself.

Zoe is sleepy... shhh.. dont disturb her, she gets grouchy.

This is Heidi. She is a blue weimaraner. We don't know much about her... she is our foster dog. She is here until she finds a home. She even has her own blog http://heidiweimaraner.blogspot.com/. She is just learning what toys are. She is still very gentle with them, but thats ok, not everyone has to be so rough all the time.

Opening Shop

Its time to open shop.
I have done some googling and some reading... there are a lot of dog toy testing sites out there.
Perhaps the best I can find is this one... http://www.boston-terrier-challenge.com/
However, they did a raquetball review (http://www.boston-terrier-challenge.com/tests/racquetball.html) and the thing was still going after a year!
This is when I decided that someone needs to do this with a breed that actually knows how to destroy toys. So, my weimaraners and I are ready to take on this tall order.
Of course, I will introduce them, and their playing experience in the coming days, along with our first reviews.
In the meantime, rest assured, a raquetball doesnt make it past 48 hours in our house. Silly Boston Terriers.
